Sailing the High Seas - Evian fuses innovation with tradition...

Picture summery shirts, sunglasses, and sunkissed celebrities lounging on a yacht with non-alcoholic detox cocktails in hand. Can you spell ‘luxury’? The lavish Evian Spa yacht provided the perfect retreat for celebrities attending the Cannes Film Festival.

Actress Karina Testa, Miss France 2001 Sonia Rolland, Armani model Arnaud Lemaire, sultry burlesque performer Dita von Teese, and 'Heroes' star Jimmy Jean-Louis, were amongst the pampered celebrities enjoying a serenity lunch with renowned chef Thierry Alix. Following a tantalising meal, the stars indulged in a hydrating Evian bath and ice cubes massage. “I’ve never experienced anything like it before. It was amazing”, said Testa.

In previous years, Evian has spoiled the crème de la crème of society at New York Fashion Week (2005), the Argentina Beach Event (2006), and Moscow Fashion Week (2007).The most recent extravanganza, the Evian Spa yacht event in Cannes, lasted for approximately a week.

An internationally recognised brand, Evian has stood the test of time. For 100 years, Evian mineral water has been sourced from rain and snowfall on the Chablais foothills north of the Haute-Savoie Alps. High in purity and low in nitrates, the water diffuses quickly into the body and flushes out toxins.

Evian's healing properties makes it a natural choice for the brand to transition into modern concept spas. Those who are unable to join the A-list  fashion or celebrity crowd have the option of visiting the Spa Hôtel Royal, Royal Hôtel Ermitage, or Thermes Evian in France.

"The Evian spa concept started in Evian town with a thermal source. Water and Spa go hand in hand,” says Cesar Lim Campos, Danone Zone Director of South East Asia.

At Thermes Evian you can enjoy thermal pools with jets for complete rejuvenation, or opt for a signature Evian aqua massage. Women living in Asia can beat the 14hr flight by choosing a closer option: Three on the Bund in Shanghai.

Strip down and relax because there won’t be a man in sight. With 14 specially themed rooms, experience treatment styles ranging from contemporary, Western, and Asian. “The approach to the spa is like a clinic, the way they treat your ailment is very therapeutic. That is in contrast to the Evian hotel, which is more zen,” says Campos.

You might not be living the high life, but you can most likely relate to the stress and hectic schedule, so take the time to pamper yourself at the spa. The next time you take a swig out of an Evian bottle, remember you're not just quenching your thirst, you're making a style statement.
